Whatis this site?This website is for my own planning and journal. You are invited to follow me on my trip and read about the adventures and people I encounter along the way. Whatam I doing?I am not killing myself at work anymore like I had for the past decade of my life. This is a mini-retirement, you can call it a quarter-life crysis if you'd like, I have been calling it my sabbatical.

Wheredo I start?From my home in Washington DC, I am leaving for New York City and then Los Angeles to say goodbye to my American friends for a while. Wheream I going?First stop is Australia from which I will also visit New Zealand. After a layover somewhere in Southeast Asia I will head to India. Another layover away Hong Kong and Beijing await. On board the Trans-Siberian Express I will see Mongolia on my way to Russia.

Whendoes this happen?This trip has been in planning for a lifetime and it has taken me many experiences to prepare myself for this expedition. My lease is up at the end of January 2010 and I am selling or storing everything that is not coming with me. Whenwill you be back?My current plans last me through June 2010 at which time I may add another month or two and add some more countries to the list.

Whyask why?Life is too short and the world is to incredible not to take this oppertunity that I am fortunate enough to have. Whynot somewhere?Yes, this isn't a typical around the world trip because I am not hitting all of the continents but who said this was my last trip ever?
